Julie Hartmans is an English-as-second-language instructor, a massage therapist, a writer and a single mom. With a BA in English, she has had a wide variety of jobs! She loves helping people, whether through bodywork or teaching. For the last eight years, she has lived in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Julie works for Berlitz, the international language school. She enjoys the opportunities to explore other cultures through her interactions with students from throughout the world. Julie also continues to maintain a small therapeutic massage business as well.
Julie’s Unitarian Universalist upbringing provided her with a strong social justice bent that continues to be important in her life. She believes in the interconnectedness of all things. She values the natural world.
Music has always been important for Julie, though it went underground for about 20 years. Singing to her son Harley when he was young reawakened that love, and she has been singing in choirs for the past 15 years. To her delight, her son has taught himself the guitar and is now performing his own songs. He's been teaching himself how to play piano and wants to pursue a career in music.
Julie has always loved to write! Her many and varied interests include education, healthcare, poverty, human rights, global warming, and metaphysics. We are honored that this busy teacher and mother is making writing an essential part of her life.
