A bred, born and proud Kansan, Levi Henry grew up in rural northeast of his state, splitting his childhood, adolescent and, now, adult years between the home and farmsteads of his maternal grandparents in Nemaha Co. and his own home. Raised by a secularist progressive, single mother who taught to inspire and continued to learn for her own desire, Levi’s maternal grandparents supplied supplemental parenting, with great skill after raising eight of their own children. It was on the Henry farm and dairy that Levi learned the values of hard work, humility, picking yourself up by your own bootstraps, and downright stubbornness.

After a sometimes rocky adolescence, Levi went on to graduate from KSU and the Washburn Univ. School of Law with a Certificate in Natural Resources Law (Honors), which was inspired by the respect he gained for Mother Nature on the Henry farm. As the first male in his family to graduate from college, Levi maintains a deep respect for rural citizens not given the same opportunities he was granted. In many ways, he believes these individuals have intelligence and practical common sense that is somehow lost by the institutional college regime.

Married to Hilary Wanke Henry, Levi now lives in Horton, Kansas, a rural community near the original Henry homestead, which he still visits regularly. Levi has served in many key leadership roles: Immediate Past Chair, Jackson Co. Democratic CC (2001-2006); Treasurer, Brown Co. DCC (2006-Present); National Committeeman, Kansas Young Democrats (2005-2007); Second VP, KS Young Dems (2003-2004; 2004-2005); VP (2002-2003) and President (2003-2004), Washburn Law Democrats; Representative (2002-2003) and VP (2004-2005), Washburn Student Bar Association. He's also a member of Knights of Columbus and the International Lion's Club. He can be reached at levijhenry at gmail dot com.
